PROCESS

“The Vessel making process starts with an existing monochromatic black painting. Usually one that did not satisfy my intent, and is being reused. The painting is cut apart into organized fragments. Next step, I start with a sheet of aluminum. Thick enough to hold a shape but malleable as well. I fold and manipulate it to make a concave vessel like shape that has a posture that feels the emotion I am trying to communicate. Then I cover the whole aluminum vessel like shape, using glue and black canvas. Lastly, I apply the fragmented pieces of reused painting. Puzzling, carefully orchestrating a pattern that flows and moves. It is finished when the whole vessel is covered, and has the appearance of a 3 Dimensional painting. This object can be hung on a wall, or strung up as an installation piece.”
